In April 2023, the radio world lost a masterful radio storyteller when Chris Brookes died in a tragic accident near his home in Newfoundland. Chris's long-standing relation with Prix Marulic was special, so during our festival, thanks to the renowned documentary authors and producers David Mairowitz and Malgorzata Zerwe and CBC/ Radio Canada, a documentary titled „Chris Brookes: Non-Rechargeable Battery” will be available for listening. The documentary features excerpts from documentaries Chris made over the decades, as well as recollections by those who knew and worked with him. The program was first broadcasted on Friday, October 13th 2023 on CBC Radio IDEAS.
